Similar Neolithic construction Nowadays
It can be seen that the post-and-lintel construction techniques is still used today. I saw this small bench near the VCU commons, and decieded that it really complements the whole structural techniques from the neolithic era. I do not know if it is limestone or some kind of marble.

I think about that also when I see that bench - I love the simple style but it also reminds me of cemetary markers ...
ReplyDeleteI've seen that bench many times as well but I never made the connection to it and ancient construction techniques. I like that something this simple can bring the past to our present. It is slightly reminiscent of a cemetery marker as I have noticed in Hollywood cemetery some grave markers incorporate a spot for people to sit.
